Text for the slideshow that went with yesterday's article.

Wahmhoff for Senate with permission.

Now it's time for me to rotate to my political articles from the first half of 2015. Here is the first, which is a retrospective of the past year's most read. Look, two stories about the Green Party and no Trump!
Top elections stories of 2014 about underdogs, endorsements, millages
( With 2015 already into its second month, it is well past time to look at the top Washtenaw County election stories of 2014 before moving on to this year's election news. Based on the number of Facebook shares and likes, five stories stood out, the top three of which shared a common theme, underdogs in last year's general election. The other two were about favorites. One was about the candidates endorsed by Detroit's major daily newspapers, while the other was about a millage proposal. Both the endorsees and the millage proposal went on to crushing wins. )

Last article ever published by me on Examiner.com.
Poll shows Clinton leading Trump by seventeen points in Michigan
( A poll of Michigan and six other battleground states released Wednesday, June 29, shows presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton leading presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in Michigan and six other states. The poll, commissioned by Ballotpedia and conducted by Evolving Strategies, showed Clinton leading Trump in a two-way race by seventeen points in the Great Lakes State, the largest margin in the seven states surveyed. )
That was the last article I ever published for Examiner.com, but not the last I wrote. That honor goes to Examiner.com article on Clinton leading Trump by 17% in Michigan published at Crazy Eddies Motie News. In the middle of writing it, I received an email stating that Examiner.com was ceasing publication, effective immediately. The publisher was not kidding; I could not publish my article, so it went on my blog. Sic transit gloria mundi.
I'll post something non-political tomorrow. I have lots of science fiction in visual media to write about.

Last endorsement article.
Lasinski endorsed by Michigan Chamber of Commerce in state house primary
( Donna Lasinski of Scio Township earned an endorsement in her campaign Thursday to replace Gretchen Driskell of Saline in the Michigan House of Representatives. The Michigan Chamber of Commerce endorsed the Ann Arbor School Board member along with twenty-two other candidates for State Representative running in open primaries )

Too bad the only poll that counts happens on Election Day.
Poll shows Clinton leading Trump and Johnson in Michigan
( Late Tuesday evening, WDIV released the results of a poll it and the Detroit News commissioned. It showed likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton leading presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump by 4.5 percent in a two-way contest. Clinton also led Trump in a three-way contest including Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson. Her lead shrank to 4.1 percent when Johnson was included, indicating that the Libertarian candidate drew from both Republicans and Democrats. Both leads were barely outside the margin of error, which was four percent. )

I mentioned that minor parties were among my specialties when I wrote for Examiner.com. Here is the last example of that.
Michigan Libertarians announce 2016 candidates from President to Park Commission
( Wednesday morning, the Libertarian Party of Michigan released its list of nominees for offices from U.S. President to Ypsilanti Township Park Commissioner. The candidates for state and local office had been nominated at the party's state convention in Lansing the weekend of May 14 and 15, while the nominees for President and Vice President were nominated May 29 at the Libertarian Party national convention in Orlando, Florida. )
Driskell is running again next year. I wonder if this endorsement will be good then, too.
Republican former Governor Milliken endorses Democrat Driskell for Congress( Former Governor William Milliken, a Republican, has a long history of crossing party lines to endorse Democrats. He continued that tradition on Wednesday by endorsing State Representative Gretchen Driskell of Saline, a Democrat, in her effort to unseat U.S. Representative Tim Walberg of Tipton, a Republican who represents a district that includes the rural and exurban western, northern, and southern portions of Washtenaw County. )
School millages passing in Washtenaw County while Ann Arbor schools are closed
( While national attention was focused on the Indiana Primary, voters throughout Washtenaw County approved a millage increase for special education. Those in Chelsea renewed a millage for construction, building repair, and site acquisition. )
One of the high points of Sanders' campaign.
Sanders shocks in Michigan while Trump wins state but loses Washtenaw County
( Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont upset former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of New York in last night's Michigan Democratic Primary, beating her statewide by 1.5 percent of the total vote. His margin in Washtenaw County was even greater at 11.7 percent. )

Yeah, but the election wasn't held in March, was it?
Poll shows Clinton and Sanders beat Trump and Cruz in Michigan
( If the election were held today, both former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of New York and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont would win in Michigan over either real estate developer Donald Trump of New York and Senator Ted Cruz of Texas. Both would have larger margins over Trump than Cruz with Sanders earning the bigger victories. )

I was going for the contrary story by publishing an outlier poll.
Most recently conducted poll shows Kasich ahead of Trump in Michigan
( The first poll conducted entirely after the Fox News debate in Detroit showed New York real estate developer Donald Trump no longer leading in Michigan. Instead, Ohio Governor John Kasich had gained a narrow lead in the race for the Republican nomination for President in the Great Lakes State. )

When I wrote about elections for Examiner.com, I specialized in three topics, minor parties, polls, and newspaper endorsements. Here is an example of the last.
Clinton and Kasich endorsed by both Detroit daily newspapers
( The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press agree on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and current Ohio Governor John Kasich. This week, Detroit's major daily newspapers endorsed both candidates for their parties' nominations in advance of Michigan's presidential primary election on March 8. )

Rubio falls out of second in Michigan behind Cruz with Kasich gaining
( While New York real estate developer Donald Trump still leads in Michigan, the race for second place continues to develop. Two polls taken after Super Tuesday show that Senator Marco Rubio of Florida has fallen out of second place and is being passed by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Governor John Kasich of Ohio, as Evangelicals and the youngest voters move from Rubio to Cruz, middle-aged voter shift from Rubio to Trump, and older voters change from Rubio to Kasich and Trump. )
I forgot about this funny incident.
Kasich 'phones in' first campaign stop in MichiganOhio Governor John Kasich's six-day campaign tour through Michigan began inauspiciously yesterday. His charter plane from New York could not make it to his first scheduled stop, a town hall at the Student Union at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Tuesday morning, March 2.
( Unable to attend in person, Kasich did the next best thing. He called the approximately forty people at the venue and spoke to them over the phone. )
This was one of the more popular articles last year. Too bad I was not able to to a year-end top five in 2016 to record how popular.
( Sanders greeted by packed house in Ypsilanti. )
