Rejected video for DNC post
Aug. 23rd, 2024 11:19 amI decided not to include this video in Closer looks at the DNC from Stewart, Colbert, and Meyers because it was insufficiently funny and including the previous episode in Silly and serious looks at night 3 of the DNC from Colbert and FiveThirtyEight didn't help much.
This video didn't come out until after I finished writing The Daily Show covers Tim Walz plus Walz's first speech as running mate.
Replaced video for Tim Walz post

Jul. 21st, 2024 03:10 pmI researched what caused the Federalists and Whigs to collapse. The Federalists stopped winning elections, faded into irrelevancy, and supported the adversary in a foreign war. That's what I hoped would happen to the Republicans. It's not happening, at least any time soon. The Whigs were riven by divisions over slavery and failed to renominate their own sitting President. That was the last straw and opened the door for the Republicans to take over their slot as a major party. The Democrats have just failed to renominate their own sitting President, although the details are different. It encourages me that the Democrats were on the wrong side of the Civil War and still survived, but that's cold comfort right now.
Gretchen Whitmer on the Late Show
Jul. 12th, 2024 01:47 pmThis was the next segment after the one I featured in Colbert, Meyers, and 'The Daily Show' take more closer looks at Project 2025. My wife and I watched it last night and enjoyed it.
Video for an alternative post
Feb. 15th, 2024 09:19 pmIf I wanted a serious post instead of A closer look at Suozzi winning Santos's former seat and Mayorkas impeachment, I'd have used this.
I used a quote from The Guardian instead in House votes to approve debt ceiling deal, on to the Senate.

Since becoming an independent, Kyrsten Sinema has moved from being the second most conservative Democrat to being left of the median Democrat in the Senate. She's also become more "establishment" than every other Senate Democrat.
Pin link.
I rejected this video for Democrats are trying to rearrange the dates of their primaries and caucuses to make them more representative, a 'Groundhog Day' story because it was already out of date.
Rejected video for Jocelyn Benson post
Jan. 7th, 2023 04:26 pmI cut the following video out of Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson among those awarded Presidential Citizens Medals on the second anniversary of January 6th in favor of a WDIV video with tighter focus on Benson and an ABC News video that showed everyone who earned the honor.
I decided to use an MSNBC video for MSNBC's Steve Kornacki examines today's Senate runoff election in Georgia.
Rejected video for Fetterman vs. Oz post
Aug. 5th, 2022 11:56 amI found funnier videos with the same content for Colbert and MSNBC on Fetterman vs. Oz in Pennsylvania.
