I decided this didn't have quite the scope I wanted for MSNBC covers record heat and climate change for World Emoji Day.

I looked at the following video, then decided to post PBS Terra asks 'Why Is The U.S. Warming Faster Than Average?' instead. Maybe later.

I like Hank Green, but I used more organized videos in The science of gas stoves from Verge Science, PBS Digital's Reactions, and the Los Angeles Times.

Like space, climate and weather were popular topics for year in review videos this month. That meant the following videos didn't make the cut for 2022 in climate and weather from NBC News, DW News, and ABC News. Too bad, they were good, but not as good as the ones I used, although I liked the preview image for the WION video the most.

I decided against using this video in 2021 sixth warmest year on record globally, fourth warmest in U.S., NASA and NOAA report in favor of videos with live presenters and narration.

I cut this video from 2021 in climate and weather from ABC News, NBC News, and WeatherNation because NBC News did a good enough job describing this year's hurricane season in its video.

I rejected the following videos for IPCC report warns 'code red for humanity' in favor of more recent ones with more of a U.S. emphasis.

I rejected the following video for Hurricanes, fires, floods, and drought, the top climate and weather stories of 2020 because I felt it was redundant.

I decided to use a shorter and more current video for Tropical Storm Beta is the ninth named storm to make landfall in the U.S., tying a century-old record, plus 'zombie' Tropical Storm Paulette returns at Crazy Eddie's Motie News.

Yet more severe weather is battering the Gulf Coast, as Tropical Storm Beta is expected to impact Texas and Louisiana with dangerous flash floods. NBC’s Morgan Chesky reports from Galveston, Texas, and TODAY’s Al Roker forecasts where the storm is heading.

I tweeted several times about how this year's Atlantic hurricane season is outpacing the so-far record 2005 season. The two tweets that summarize the rest were "As someone else already observed, this is the "Earliest 'S' storm in history, smashing Stan (2005) by 23 DAYS." That year, the National Hurricane Center ran out of names and used Geek letters Alpha through Delta" and "There are only three names left this year, so I expect that will happen again. Tropical Storm Theta by the end of the season, anyone?" That was in response to the naming of Tropical Storm Sally. I'm not the only one. The Weather Channel uploaded this video late last week.

"There's a lot of similarities with the atmosphere here in 2020 that there was in 2005."

We want you to be prepared for what this hurricane season can bring. We can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a plan well before you need one.

Ah, 2020!

I used an ABC News clip in 'California wildfires illustrate the consequences of climate change' — PBS NewsHour instead of the one below from the BBC because I thought it would work better for a U.S. audience. This is despite the better video description.

Wildfires have burned through a record number of acres in California this year as firefighters continue to battle several large blazes across the state.

The state's department of forestry and fire protection, Cal Fire, says more than two million acres have burned, more than the size of Delaware.

One fire, El Dorado, which has spread over 7,000 acres, was started by a gender reveal party, officials say.

California is currently experiencing a record heatwave.

Los Angeles County reported its highest ever temperature of 49.4C (121F) on Sunday. Although temperatures are expected to drop from Tuesday onwards it may bring strong winds which could fan the flames, the National Weather Service warns.

At Crazy Eddie's Motie News, I posted Carbon dioxide hits another record at 415 ppm. One link I was considering using but that ended up on the virtual cutting room floor was There Were Trees at The South Pole The Last Time There Was This Much CO2 in The Air.  That was 5 million years ago.

Happy Apophis Day, when I observe the perils of space. Asteroids! Over at Crazy Eddie's Motie News, I posted Massive crater discovered under Greenland for Apophis Day 2019 to observe this day I made up myself to celebrate the two future fly-bys of the asteroid Apophis on April 13th. Here at Dreamwidth, I'm sharing a video that includes clips from the two videos I embedded at my Blogspot, but rejected because it was a bit incoherently edited; besides I prefer the originals.

I found three videos or sets of videos on topics I like to write about, the Retail Apocalypse, Russian election interference, and climate change. They made for easy blogging.

CBS Sunday Morning examines 'the fall of Sears'
CBS News explains how Russia used disinformation on social media to target voters
COP24 concludes with delegates reaching consensus on how to implement the Paris Climate Agreement

I also found one on the history of the U.S. selling arms to Saudi Arabia. That was work!

Vox explains how Saudi Arabia became the largest buyer of U.S. arms and is using them in Yemen
