Coyotes in the neighborhood where I grew up

This isn't news to me.  There were coyotes in the neighborhood attacking cats 50 years ago when I was a kid there.  Some things don't change.

Apparently, we have the like in Toronto and Ottawa, too.

We have them here in Detroit, too, including in my neighborhood. My wife and I can hear them howl from time to time.
