Yesterday's Facebook status about union contract meetings

22 years ago, I decided to go to my classroom in Detroit to prepare for the first day of school instead of attending a contract ratification meeting. That was a mistake, as a bunch of other faculty who felt as I did also skipped the union meeting while the hotheads all showed up and voted to strike. Today, I'm attending the union meeting before I go in to the office to prepare for class on Monday. I'm not making that mistake again!
