Here is the text for the slideshow that accompanied the article I posted yesterday. Now I'm really done with 2015! Coverage of the first half of 2016 begins tomorrow.
Top five Washtenaw County election stories on Facebook for 2015
Four of the five most popular election stories in Washtenaw County on Facebook this year either featured or mentioned Donald Trump. The most popular described the possibility that Trump, shown here at a rally in Grand Rapids, might be kept off Michigan's ballot if he ran as an independent.
The second most popular showed Trump in second place behind Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Walker, shown here at a campaign event for Jeb Bush in Milwaukee, came in first. He has since dropped out of the contest.
Ben Carson leading Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, while Trump was losing to both, was the third most popular story on Facebook this year. Carson is shown here at the Republican debate in Las Vegas.
The fourth most popular article was about the only statewide election held in Michigan during 2015, which led to the record landslide defeat of Proposal 1. The measure was intended to fix Michigan's roads, which have potholes as large as this one from California.
The fifth most popular story showed that even Democrats could not escape Trump's name, which was mentioned at a fundraiser for Martin O'Malley, shown here at the Democratic debate in New Hampshire.
