I closed Coffee Party USA announces the 2019-2020 Golden Coffee Cup Television Winners! by telling followers of the Coffee Party to stay tuned for the first stage of the next awards.
With the 2019-2020 television season out of the way, the members and volunteers of Coffee Party USA will move on to the best political movies of the 2020 awards season. Watch for the posting of the shortlists for the show categories on our blog along with an invitation to stream them while staying safe at home.
( It’s time to announce the shortlists for scripted movies and documentaries for the Golden Coffee Cups Movie Awards, which recognize the best depictions and representations of politics and government on the big screen during the past year’s movie season as defined by the Motion Picture Academy. )
Happy Giving Tuesday!
National Day of Giving encourages giving back. It takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
…
Quite simply, take advantage of all the holiday deals to add to your charitable giving. Combined with your family, friends, local and national organizations and through the power of social media, Day of Giving can become a tradition worth passing on.
My tradition for the day, which I began On Giving Tuesday 2017, then continued in 2018 and last year, is to <donate to my favorite non-profit, Coffee Party USA. I am a director and officer of the organization and I just donated $10.00 to it for Giving Tuesday. In addition, I’m asking my readers to match my donation. Click on the red “Please donate” button on the lower left corner of your screen and follow the instructions, including entering $10.00 in the “Other” box. However, if you want to donate more, be our guest!
As for what my donation and yours will do for Coffee Party USA, our supporters, and our country, I’m going to be a good environmentalist and recycle what I wrote originally in Happy National Coffee Ice Cream Day from Coffee Party USA! and reused in Celebrate National Coffee Day 2019 by donating to Coffee Party USA.
Coffee Party USA ia a 501c(4) nonprofit social welfare organization dedicated to empowering and connecting communities to reclaim our government for the people. To support its efforts, which include educating the public on our website and on our Facebook page, registering people to vote with our partners TurboVote and National Voter Registration Day, and reminding them to vote through our Voter Buddy program, please consider donating. A donation of $10.00 for ten years of Coffee Party USA is recommended. For those who wish to give at a higher level of support and be more involved in the organization, please consider becoming a member [by clicking on the blue button that says “Become a member” in the lower right corner of your screen]. To do the valuable work of the Coffee Party…volunteer [by clicking on “Volunteer” in the navigation bar at the top of the page]. Not only will Coffee Party USA thank you for it, so will the country!
Thanks for donating! Now treat yourself. Since today is National Pie Day, eat a slice of pie. If you want something healthier, today is also National Red Apple Day, so you can eat that instead.

Post for Coffee Party USA's 10th birthday
Jan. 26th, 2020 08:45 pm
An early Happy Birthday to Coffee Party USA on Irish Coffee Day! I begin the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the nonprofit for which I'm a director with Broken Peach singing Happy Birthday.
"Happy Birthday!"
If it's a birthday, then there must be presents! I am asking my readers give a gift to Coffee Party USA by making a donation of $10.00 (or more) to match either my monthly dues of $10.00 that I paid three days ago or the $10.00 I donated today for the organization's birthday. Click on the link, fill in the "other" box with 10.00, click continue to fill in your contact information, then proceed to payment. Coffee Party USA will thank you for donating.
Your donation will allow you to be a part of the important work of Coffee Party USA, a 501c(4) nonprofit social welfare organization dedicated to empowering and connecting communities to reclaim our government for the people. Our efforts include educating the public on our website and on our Facebook page, registering people to vote with our partners TurboVote and National Voter Registration Day, and reminding them to vote through our Voter Buddy program. This is an election year, so our work with TurboVote and National Voter Registration Day is especially important. Americans need to be registered and reminded to vote in this year's elections, both primary and local.
For those who wish to give at a higher level of support and be more involved in the organization, please consider becoming a member. Beginning this year, members will get to nominate and vote for the Golden Coffee Cups for Movies and Television, so there is an extra incentive to become a member, not just a contributor. To become more personally involved with the valuable work of the Coffee Party, volunteer. Not only will Coffee Party USA thank you for it, so will the country!
Thanks for donating. Let's get to work inciting civility and reason!
Now that you've donated, treat yourself. In addition to today being National Irish Coffee Day, National Day Calendar lists yesterday as National Peanut Butter Day, tomorrow as National Peanut Brittle Day, and Monday as National Chocolate Cake Day. Pick one, or enjoy them all. In the meantime, Coffee Party on!

Three national days for September 7
Sep. 7th, 2018 07:02 amNational Grateful Patient Day: "National Grateful Patient Day on September 7 provides an opportunity to show appreciation for the hard working professionals in the medical industry as well as the families/caregivers of anyone receiving life-giving medical care. It also honors the indomitable spirit of these courageous patients who are grateful to be alive."
This one has meaning for me because today is the anniversary of my being hospitalized after being diagnosed with diabetes. In the hospital, I was then diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis in my leg and Grave's Disease (hyperthyroidism). I wish to thank all the medical professionals who have been working to keep me well. I am certainly grateful to have my conditions treated and under control.
National Neither Snow Nor Rain Day: "This National Day commemorates the opening of the New York Post Office on September 7, 1914.
'"Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds ~ Inscription found over the entrance of the central post office in New York City'"
I think the Postal Service deserves more appreciation and recognition.
National Food Bank Day: "When you wake up on the first Friday in September make a commitment for National Food Bank Day to contribute to the cause that believes no one should go to bed hungry."
Detroit has three great food banks, Gleaners, Forgotten Harvest, and Yad Ezra. I'll celebrate this day later when I recommend my students research them for a project about environmental charities (more sustainability than environmental, but I'm O.K. with that) and the college where I work finds ways to assist its students in need.
