Aug. 1st, 2025 02:12 pmMy comment on DCI 2025- Marching Arts Weekly Score Recap week of July 3rd.
The following World Class corps haven't competed yet this season: Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, Pacific Crest, Spirit of Atlanta, Music City, The Academy, and Genesis. Jersey Surf is not listed on DCI's site after withdrawing from tour. Bluecoats, Carolina Crown, The Academy, and Music City all have their first contest tomorrow, July 5th. Genesis and Spirit have their first contest on the 7th. Pacific Crest doesn't compete until July 11th.

Narb, it's (almost) never aliens. Maybe if extrasolar object Atlas skipped off the atmosphere, but it's not getting that close.

Welcome back to Crazy Eddie's Motie News! Hope to see you more around here!
I think you read my blog more when I posted regularly at Greer's and Kunstler's blogs. I post rarely at Greer's blogs the past few years and haven't posted at Kunstler's since Halloween 2019.
I had a lot to say about Greer in I ask The Archdruid and his readers 'Can you show us on the doll exactly where the educated professionals hurt you?' A Festivus airing of grievances, especially in the comments. As for his banging the same old drum, I can relate. On the one hand, he's getting predictable. On the other, I'm older than he is and have been blogging for nearly as long. At some point, it's easier to settle on a set of favorite points and pound them home than it is to come up with something new. I'm starting to do that already.

Ten years ago, I wrote "Michael Bay. He's all about the BOOM!" https://crazyeddiethemotie.blogspot.com/2015/02/razzies-and-robocop.html That written, there are other auteurs whose films reality could imitate, like Alex Garland, who directed 'Civil War.' That would be less fun.
My comments on It's a Jungle Out There.
I had to check to see that they are indeed on Spotify. I listen to podcasts there, not music. I found The Cog Is Dead on YouTube thanks to the algorithm recommending the band to me.
By the way, I think this is the first time I've heard all the lyrics in one sitting. My wife and I got about halfway through binging all of Monk so we've heard one of the verses all the way through multiple times, but may have heard the other verse only once, if that. I had to check to see if these were the original lyrics or if The Cog Is Dead added the second verse. Nope, all Randy Newman's.
Oh, it's original to Monk. It won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music in 2004. That also explains why it feels nostalgic. Monk ran from 2002-2009, so it's more than 20 years old.

Theme parks and drum corps? You're my kind of person. Subscribed!
My comment on Listening to people worry about lower birthrates on World Population Day is enough to drive me to drink on National Mojito Day.

Congratulations, Joss! You've just demonstrated the science behind the 2023 Ig Nobel Prize winner for Chemistry and Geology: "Jan Zalasiewicz of the University of Leicester for explaining why many scientists like to lick rocks."
My abandoned comment on 2025 Box Office - Superman 2nd Weekend Drop, Fantastic Four Opening Weekend Preview. Grace corrected herself in a pinned comment before I could post it; KPop Demon Hunters does qualify for the Oscars.
29:10 So the songs in "KPop Demon Hunters" don't qualify for the Oscars. They still qualify for the GRAMMys, Emmys — yes the TV awards have Outstanding Music and Lyrics, which "Agatha All Along" won — and probably the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, both of which have Best Song awards. The Oscars may be the biggest game in Tinseltown, but it's not the only one.
My comment on why is OUGH so tough, though?
Now you have me imagining Roya Venturera as a guest on Otherwords.
