The stat got injected into the U.S. Right via Kim Iversen, which then got spread further through The Defender (Children's Health Defense), RFK Jr.'s anti-vax site. Quelle surprise!
My comment on The Orwellian SCOTUS in recess.
There are even nine of them! To be fair, only six of the Court count as Orwellian.

Don't worry, Kanoserig. Your secret is safe with me.

One of your comments made it past the spam filter. I'd say congratulations, but I expect it to be short-lived, as Blogger removed all previous comments like yours that I allowed to stay as spam within a week to ten days.
It's now gone, as Blogger has sent your comment to the spam filter, where it will remain. It only took one day.
I have a better entry for your unsolicited advertising, OMG, Spam Shoes! I'd let your comment remain there. Here, I'm just deleting it as off-topic.
Blogger sent your next comment directly to the spam filter. I'm keeping it there.
I would have left your comment for Blogger to throw into the spam filter, but your link is in Chinese, and I delete non-English spam on sight. Besides, maybe the Singaporeans and Taiwanese who read my blog would appreciate it, but I've had very few readers from China proper lately outside of Hong Kong.
New account, but same old spam. I give it between one and ten days before enough people mark your comments as spam and Blogger unpublishes this comment. I won't be one of them. I'll just sit here eating popcorn until your flattery and link end up in the spam filter.
And it took only one day. Enjoy eternity in the spam filter!
My comment on Three hottest days on record this week and it's only Thursday posted to the Coffee Party USA Facebook page.
In response to Chris Hardy asking "Why are Pliocene temperatures 'bad'?"
Ah, I see you actually read the post. Thank you.
Because they're literally outside of human experience. that's why. Our genus only appeared a little more than 2 million years ago. 3.6 million years ago is 400,000 years before "Lucy." Also, sea level was up to 50 feet higher then. We're on track to get there in a few centuries. Even if the temperatures were "good," that would be too much of a good thing too soon.
My comments on Three hottest days on record this week and it's only Thursday itself.
Thanks to Infidel753 for linking to me in Link round-up for 9 July 2023 at his blog and welcome to all of you who came here from that link! Also, welcome to all my Singaporean, Canadian, Dutch, French (welcome back — my page views missed you!), Israeli, German, and other international readers. I appreciate all of you, especially my Singaporean readers, who contributed nearly 5,000 page views this week, more than half as many as my American readers! Wow!
Also, I reported that the world has now had its *four* hottest days ever this week in PBS NewsHour reports 'Record-breaking global temperature, raging wildfires highlight effects of climate change' plus Thursday broke another record.
It's so bad that I checked to see if the average global temperature records were broken on Friday and Saturday for a fifth or even sixth time. The closest I could find was Mother Jones asking Did Planet Earth Just Have its Hottest-Ever Week? The answer seems to be yes: "Until last week, no single day over the Climate Reanalyzer’s 44 years of records has had an average temperature higher than 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit. But the the seven-day stretch ending Thursday averaged that much."
Blogger got a little overzealous and marked my last comment as spam, so I approved it. May that serve as a reminder to check my comments for false positives!
My comments on Vietnam bans 'Barbie,' the most anticipated film of the year, over map showing Chinese territorial claim.
I was thinking of you when I wrote this and even had tabs open to your posts about the "Barbie" movie, so I was not surprised to see you comment here. Yes, this is pretty ridiculous; I was rolling my eyes as I typed out my reactions to the Republicans accusing Warner Brothers-Discovery of catering to China. That hasn't turned out too well. Look at how Disney's live-action "Mulan" did. The company tried to make the movie more friendly to the Chinese and it didn't work, while also disappointing American audiences. I think Disney's issues with its films began with that remake.
I'm not as surprised about the reaction from the Philippines as you are. The country's previous President Rodrigo Duterte was quite authoritarian himself and the current President is "Bongbong" Marcos, the son of Ferdinand and Imelda, a pair of kleptocrats. The saying is that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so I expect him to show authoritarian tendencies along with a pro-U.S. attitude. It's hard for me to be disappointed when I don't expect better.
Thanks for linking to this entry at Link round-up for 9 July 2023 and welcome to all your readers who came here from your link. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you. I grew up in Los Angeles and worked in a medical reference lab where a plurality of employees were Filipino and Tagalog was the second language, so I'd like to think I have some insight into the country and its inhabitants.
I never watched the movie, so I relied on Grace Randolph's reporting. Maybe I misremembered what she said or her interpretation of its failure was incomplete. I will say that it impressed the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films enough to win two Saturn Awards, Best Action/Adventure Film Release and Best Film Costume.
Speaking of Grace, I'm thinking of DMing her the Politico link as an example of the politicization of film and TV. She really dislikes the effect of polarization on entertainment in general and movie audiences in particular.
I'm glad it pleases you. So far today, Blogger has reported 18 page views from your blog, second only to Facebook.
My comment on The Shakespeare Enthusiast Who Introduced An Invasive Species.
I tell this story to my biology and environmental science students to begin my lecture on invasive species and linking it to Schieffelin's reputed love of Shakespeare makes a great hook. It's also the story that opens the episode of PBS's "Human Footprint" about invasive species, so I'm not alone. It even shows up in Netflix's "Ozark," just to give an idea of its cultural significance. While I've been familiar with the story, having read it in Reader's Digest more than 50 years ago, you managed to add details to it I hadn't heard, so, thank you, I learned something from you. It's always a good day when I learn something new.
I quoted this comment in 'The Shakespeare Enthusiast Who Introduced An Invasive Species,' a story I tell my students.
My comment on YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT, EVEN IF YOU'RE A RIGHT-WING BILLIONAIRE.
The title reminds me that Rupert Murdoch should have listened to his fourth ex-wife, who could have passed along the lines her long-time partner partner sang: "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you'll find, you get what you need." That would have been good advice, but she divorced him. His loss.
The same is true of the centrist billionaires behind No Labels. I think they really want someone other than Trump or Biden, and think that a third-party bid will do that for them. The organization and at least some of their backers seem to really believe this. If so, they're in complete denial that it will most likely result in Trump returning to the White House, even though they say that's the outcome they least want. They should listen to Mick Jagger, too.

"In Ron DeSantis's reality, he'd send thugs to your house if you tried it." I think Gavin Newsom would set a trap for them.
My comment on Every day I’m so thankful the #NCIS season 20 cliffhanger didn’t involve Jes.
I suspect that cliffhanger is the setup for Wilmer Valderrama to leave the show so he can play Zorro.
My comment on Why Did The Royals Change Their Name?
Beat me to it. They also had a bust of the Kaiser in one of their parks, which the locals dumped in a nearby pond at the onset of WWI. It's still the most German town in Canada, with the biggest Oktoberfest in the Western Hemisphere.
My comment on 27. Hatzegopteryx Courtship (Prehistoric Planet 2 OST).
Congratulations on your Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music Composition For A Documentary Series Or Special, the first Emmy nomination for "Prehistoric Planet."
