Nitpick on your nitpick. Yes, the Romans were more likely to use lions and leopards in their gladiatorial matches and persecutions of Christians disguised as such because both species of great cats existed around the Mediterranean during Classical times. However, tigers also existed along the far northeastern frontier of the Roman Empire what is now Turkey and Iraq as well. In fact, they were there until the 1970s, when they were extirpated. So, it's possible that the Romans could have used them as well.

My comment on On the Metaphysics of Sex.
Your observations about pornography and romance reminded me about an insight Polygon, a gaming media outlet of all things, made in a video. It was that pornography and melodrama, which overlaps with romance, share a characteristic with horror. All three are all body genres and are intended to make the reader or viewer feel the same emotions as the protagonists, whether it's lust, sadness, or fear. They're not intended to make you think.
Now I'm wondering about the occult effects of watching horror beyond learning incorrect ideas about the occult!
My comment on About The VP Race.
So does that mean that Tucker has replaced Jonah Goldberg as Doughy Pantload?
My comment on Midweek Cafe and Lounge vol 174.
On my blog, I had suggested a Trader Vic's Mai Tai as the drink for Kamala Harris during the debates. Now that she'll be debating Pence, I'm reviving that drink for her. Unfortunately, Tipsy Bartender took down that video. Here's one that is my backup video for the drink. I promise to post the one I will use on my blog on the next installment.

Huh, that didn't work. Let's see if this does.

Or this.
Code must have changed. Let's see if I can embed video.
OK, that works.
(Actually, it didn't. It just looked like it did.)
My comment on JMG on Podcast UFO.
The commenters didn't even engage with the idea that mystical experiences might be part of the phenomenon. I suppose they are too materialistic to even consider the possibility. Now, what if you had said that you think interstellar travel of the kind they think is responsible is impossible. Imagine the meltdown.
Also, listening to that podcast reminded me of my own UFO encounter with classified aircraft during the late 1990s. It wasn't anything near as sexy as a black wedge. Instead, it looked like a large, boxy Star Trek shuttlecraft with stubby wings flying over me at night. Years later, I figured out it was a V-22 Osprey, which was undergoing testing and extensive redesign at the time.
My comment on RIGHT-WING SCAMMERS: THEY'RE NOT ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY.
Beat me to posting that. It really explains modern American conservatism as a scam.
My comments on THE MESSAGING AT THE REPUBLICAN CONVENTION IS INSANE, BUT I'M NOT SURE IT'S FAILING.
That's what Molly Ivins said about Pat Buchanan in 1992 and I agree.
"Emotional support cougar" — Kimberly Guilfoyle, 51, dating Donald Trump, Jr., 42. Works for me, despite the ageist and sexist implications.
My comment on Republicans Without A Plan.
I'm going to repeat what I tweeted in response to this story: "I am reminded of Mussolini's remark: 'The democrats of Il Mondo want to know our programme? It is to break the bones of the democrats of Il Mondo. And the sooner the better.'" You may have seen it already, but it bears repeating.
