Nova on Flint for World Water Day
Mar. 22nd, 2019 02:11 pmAt Crazy Eddie's Motie News, I posted CNN's 'Dirty Water: Danger from the Tap' on World Water Day. The video I used reminded me of Cassini and Voyager both winners at the Emmy Awards to "write about [the PBS 'Nova' episode] 'Poisoned Water'...in a future post." Here is a promo clip of that episode.
In 2014, a cost-cutting exercise saw the city of Flint, Michigan change its water source, and begin drawing from the Flint River. But because of that same penny-pinching, the water was not properly treated, meaning more than 100,000 residents were exposed to dangerous levels of lead. Even once measures to remedy the situation belatedly got underway, the people of Flint are not expected to be able to use their tap water again until 2020.
