More thoughts about being a diabetic

Being a diabetic has given me a structure and purpose to my life I didn't have before. It's also focused my anxiety on something real, immediate, and potentially deadly. The result is that I've grown up and calmed down. Why worry about an abstract existential threat when I can work on a concrete one and have small victories over it every day?
