DCI World Class Championships are tonight, which means the end of the junior drum corps season. I'll post about that tomorrow. Today, I'm catching up on Prelims and Semifinals.

First, 6 takeaways from the 2018 DCI World Championship Prelims.

The 2018 DCI World Championship Prelims presented by Gary P. Gilroy Publications took place Thursday, August 9 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Even DCI noted how narrow the margin was between Spartans and Legends.

One of the takeaways was about Gold, which reached new heights this year.

2018 marked a milestone year for California Open Class corps Gold. The group earned its very first Open Class bronze medal while also advancing to the DCI World Championship Semifinals in Indianapolis.

Another takeaway was Mandarins becoming First-time Finalists.

With a 10th-place finish at the 2018 DCI World Championship Semifinals, Mandarins has achieved the very first World Class World Championship Finals berth in the history of the Sacramento, California organization.

Not only will there be three California corps in the top 12 for the first time in 26 years, there were a total of seven in the top 25.  I'm proud of my old home state for that achievement.
