Today is National Barbie Day.

March 9th is the anniversary of the day the Barbie doll made its debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York in 1959.

March 9th, 1959 is also used as Barbie’s official birthday.

Barbie was one of the first toys to have a marketing strategy based extensively on television advertising. It is estimated that over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold worldwide in over 150 countries.

Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts, and she was created by Ruth Handler. Ken Carson, Barbie’s boyfriend, was introduced by Mattel in 1961.

We all know a little girl that loves Barbie dolls and has at least one doll, if not a whole collection of them. Wish her a Happy Barbie Day!!
