Yesterday I mentioned that I was looking forward to today's post, which featured a show that was about science and science fiction. Welcome to The Evolution of the Clone, which is supposedly about science, but in 1978, cloning was more science fiction than science fact. Watch as the UCLA Solid Gold Sound forms lab glassware (test tube and two flasks), a cell with chromosomes, a series of clones (the band member lying on the ground is the last in the series), and then clones UCLA from UCB. The band did this show the week before at Cal and this drill was intended to piss the Cal fans off; it succeeded. They threw even more stuff at us.
The song that I wrote the flag routine for was "Send in the Clowns." 39 years later, I'm still happy how it turned out.
By the way, I wasn't the only person in this video doing double duty. The drum major, Kim Burdick, was also the head yell leader. Looking back at my time at UCLA, I think he was the most effective. He is still my favorite.

Tomorrow, I plan on posting a show from 1979 about another subject I blog about, energy. Stay tuned.
