Maybe the asteroid missed, but we just came in from watching the Northern Lights. Visible here in the Twin Cities, and clear skies. Very rare.

As spectacular as it was, we still didn't see much. We're in a first-ring suburb just to the west of Minneapolis. Not as much light pollution as some areas, but some. Neither of us felt up to driving north right then for a better view. Ah well.

I was alerted to this from watching the NOAA forecast at https://services.swpc.noaa.gov/images/aurora-forecast-northern-hemisphere.jpg. That's just an image file, but is updated every ten minutes or so. And then I waited until the daily aurora cam up in Yellowknife, Canada came on (https://auroramax.com/). That was truly magnificent.
